Baroness Sarah Ludford MEP, a patron of Fair Trials Abroad, has applauded as well-deserved the nomination by judges for newspaper European Voice of FTA director Stephen Jakobi as one of the 'EV 50', people who have most 'moved the European agenda' in the past year.
Said Sarah, who is European Liberal Democrat justice spokeswoman:
"Fair Trials Abroad does excellent work helping individuals denied fair trials and campaigning for high standards on human rights Europe-wide."
"Stephen Jakobi as the founding director is an inspired choice for this award, but it also honours the tireless work for justice of his dedicated team."
"This excellent work cannot however exist on a shoestring. Lack of funds inhibits FTA from responding to all demands on it. I hope the European Commission and other potential donors will take note of this recognition!"
