On hearing the news that two Britons are to be tried in a kangaroo court in Guantanamo Bay, Sarah Ludford asks why our government is so gutless while a gross travesty of justice is perpetrated against our fellow citizens.
Commenting on the news that two British citizens are going to be tried in secret military courts at Guantanamo Bay and could be condemned to the death penalty London's Liberal Democrat MEP Baroness Sarah Ludford said:
"Blair told us that his cosying up to George Bush was designed to give Britain influence with the United States government. In that case why are British citizens at risk of death by lethal injection or the electric chair in a kangaroo court at Guantanamo Bay?
"Other governments have demanded the return of their citizens. Why is our government so utterly gutless that it is just prepared to act as Bush's poodle while a gross travesty of justice is perpetrated against our fellow citizens?"
