Euro-MP supports "Stop Violence Against Women" Campaign.

London's Lib Dem MEP Baroness Sarah Ludford is taking part in Amnesty International's "Stop Violence Against Women" campaign.
As part of an exhibition to demonstrate how the world would be different without violence against women, Sarah was asked to contribute her idea of how such a world would change her life. Her comments will be included in a display of "imaginings." She said:
"In a world without violence against women I could avoid crossing the road at night on hearing a man behind me - and making him feel like a criminal."
In the UK, one incident of domestic violence is reported to the police every minute, and one in twenty women in England and Wales has been the victim of rape.
Sarah Ludford added:
"As MEP for London I am only too aware of the huge problems we have here on our own doorstep. Over 1000 women are illegally trafficked into London each year for forced prostitution. Campaigns such as this are crucial not only in raising awareness, but also in putting pressure on those in power to address the problem.
Amnesty International should be applauded for the wonderful work they do on promoting women's rights throughout the world."

-The "Stop Violence Against Women" exhibition will be held at the Bargehouse, Oxo Tower, on London's Southbank between 25th November and 10th December 2005.
