MEPs from the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) added £25,000 to the cost of the European Parliament's business this week by demanding roll-call votes to record every vote held. These votes cost £300 each, bringing the total cost to £25,000.
Commenting, London Liberal Democrat MEP Baroness Sarah Ludford, said:
"Once again, the anti-Europeans have shown what a waste of time and money their presence in Strasbourg is. They hark on about anti-European nonsense but in reality just create costs for the taxpayer. I hope the voters will boot them out in the elections of June next year. By doing so they will save us all money."
